The Disco Volante model, (Italian for “flying saucer”), is inspired by a 1952 Alfa Romeo that set the aesthetic & aerodynamic landmarks on the European racing circuit. Tao describes the Disco Volante guitar as their desire to reconnect with the genesis of what was once called the “Electric Spanish” guitar– the first ES guitar/non-cutaway body shape, and give it a ticket for the new century; creating a mix of cutting edge styling and old world craftsmanship. A toneful object of design.

This guitar features a one piece quarter sawn spanish cedar neck with selected indian rosewood fingerboard and ebony veneer. Custom “KTS Titanium” truss rod for a lighter and resonant neck. A scale 24 3/4″ inch with a 12″ radius. Tao's custom fretting: which has medium jumbo frets to the 12th fret, and finishes with smaller ones, giving your fingers more space to play up the neck.

The body is hand selected chambered Spanish cedar with a figured maple top and matching maple backplates. Custom Benedetti “Double D” pickups. ABM compensated aluminum wrap around bridge. Precision Shertler tuning machines.
